i have several goals for this site.

• pet husbandry, animal enrichment, cats, rats, dogs, animal communication,cooperative care, bearded dragons, frogs, betta fish
• tabletop RPGs, Dungeons and Dragons, actual play shows and podcasts, Dimension 20, ..., ...,..., ..., ..., ...

in the list above, bold indicates a major obsession, underline indicates a current minor obsession, and italics indicates a reoccuring minor obsession that i'm not thinking about on a daily/weekly basis right now, but think about monthly and expect to get focused on again. plain-text indicates an interest i'm pursuing regularly, but i wouldn't consider an obsession for whatever reason. usually it's something that takes i've grouped the lists roughly based on category or vibe.

imagine my mind is a year on a calendar. my bolded interests would be like indoor tennis: things i can easily enjoy year-round. i know i'm going to be enjoying them regularly. my underlined and italicized interests are like skiing. they're a part of a typical year, but not necessarily any typical week, and they go in and out of season.

you might be curious why i'm making all these categories up. i think it's because people will sometimes ask me things like, "do you still like Monster High Dolls, or are you just into Sylvanian Families now?" or "which do you like more: Monster High dolls or Sylvanian Families?" these questions are really confusing to me! right now, i'm spending more time thinking about and looking at Sylvanian Families day-to-day, but i still love my Monster High dolls as much as ever! i'm following big news in the Monster High dolls, but i'm actively learning old things about Sylvanian Families.

you also may wonder why i'm using the word "obsession" when maybe that sounds a little negative or exaggerated. i'm probably overthinking it, but "hobby" feels like a verb to me, and "interest" feels slightly too casual. actually, when thinking to myself, i call of these things "themes," which is what i started calling them in grade school. themes are like hobbies, but you don't necessarily have to do anything special to enjoy them. you can put on music that fits the theme, wear clothes that fit the theme, draw a picture that represents the theme and carry it in your pocket, or even just think about the theme. a theme can be enjoyed like a hobby, but it can also be like a party theme for inside your mind.

as i mentioned i have non-obsession interests too. i don't necessarily get less enjoyment out of them, but i don't feel motivated to do things like listen to the same youtube video about that interest a couple times in a single day.
